Emirates today became the first and only airline to operate the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, on a scheduled daily service into the Czech Republic.
Prague Welcomes Emirates A380
The iconic Emirates A380 was greeted today at Prague Airport by media, distinguished guests and thousands of plane spotters and aviation fans. Thierry Aucoc, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations, Europe and Russian Federation, who arrived with Emirates representatives, media and VIP guests on the inaugural flight said: “We are pleased to arrive in this beautiful city and to add Prague to the list of over 40 destinations served by an Emirates A380, reinforcing our commitment to the Czech Republic. Since we launched commercial flights between Prague and our Dubai home, Emirates has carried more than 1.1 million passengers between the two cities, facilitating both leisure and business travel.”
“We would like to thank our partners, the airport and the local authorities for making it possible to bring the A380 into Vaclav Havel Airport. On behalf of the global team, I am delighted to offer Emirates’ best-in-class service to our Czech customers and I look forward to many more years of cooperation with the Czech Republic.”
The strong customer demand for travel on the Dubai-Prague route has established Prague as a key European destination for Emirates, leading to the decision to operate the largest aircraft in the fleet on the route. Czech travellers can now enjoy Emirates’ renowned service and benefit from greater opportunities to connect seamlessly with Emirates’ 150-plus destinations around the world, through one single stop in Dubai. As well as Dubai itself, Czech business and leisure travellers can reach popular destinations further afield such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, Taipei and Mauritius exclusively on this spectacular aircraft, with just one stop in Dubai.
Emirates’ Skycargo business facilitates increased trade, exporting commodities such as Bohemian Crystal, electronics and car parts all around the world from Vaclav Havel Airport.
Known for its efficiency, the A380 aircraft burns up to 20% less fuel per seat than its nearest competitor and, on the Prague route, will accommodate 519 passengers in a three-class configuration, with 429 spacious Economy Class seats on the main deck and 76 fully flat-bed mini-pods in Business Class as well as 14 First Class Private Suites on the upper deck. It also offers access to onboard Shower Spas for First Class passengers and to the iconic Onboard Lounge, where First Class and Business Class passengers can socialize at 40,000 feet, both of which are unique to the Czech market.
"With the regular deployment of the A380 on the Prague-Dubai route, the seat capacity will increase by 44% compared to the B777-300ER, which has operated the route until today. Passengers can look forward to increased comfort on the route that connects Prague with Emirates’ extensive destination network in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Australia," said Vaclav Rehor, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Czech Aeroholding, and added: “Prague Airport is trying, with a new discount incentives program, to encourage carriers to use larger aircrafts, which allow us to more efficiently utilize the capacity of the airport. The regular deployment of the largest passenger aircraft in the world confirms that we have been successful in this endeavor.”
“Our iconic A380 represents the best product that Emirates has to offer our passengers worldwide,” said Bořivoj Trejbal, Emirates’ Country Manager for Czech Republic. “For nearly six years now, the Prague-Dubai route has been met with a consistent demand from our customers and this upgraded service is truly a testament to Emirates’ investment into the Czech Republic.”
On board the A380, passengers in all cabin classes can enjoy Emirates’ renowned service provided by a multilingual crew representing more than 130 nationalities, savour gourmet cuisine and an award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice Digital Widescreen, which offers more than 2,500 channels of films, TV programmes, music and podcasts. Passengers travelling on the A380 can stay easily connected to family, friends and colleagues with a wide range of communications options including free onboard Wi-Fi. The Emirates experience begins with a complimentary chauffeur-drive to and from the airport for Business Class and First Class passengers and with access to Emirates’ exclusive airport lounges worldwide. As with all Emirates flights, passengers benefit from a generous baggage allowance of 30kg in Economy Class, 40kg in Business Class and 50kg in First Class.
